3 Healthy and quick breakfast twists with oats!


Why oats? Well, firstly they are incredibly nutritious and offer numerous health benefits such as providing antioxidants, packed with fiber, phosphorous, thiamine, magnesium and zinc.


Eating fibrous food helps reduce the food processing time along with food absorption and hence we feel full for longer time after eating oatmeal. It has also been found that oats help reduce the body's active glucose/insulin response. Thus studies have found it beneficial in Type II diabetes.


They also help in digestive health, reduce risk of cardiovascular diseases and some studies have found that it possibly helps in weight management. Everyone knows that diet and exercises are both equally needed in weight management and since healthy foods is one dimension of wellness, we thought we should kickstart our recipe posts with this grain of truth!



What? But just a plain bowl of oats? Ughhh ,bland and tastes really boring! To make it interesting and well….Instagrammy, here are 3 awesome recipes which are a delight and will make your mornings simple and energetic!

Also, rolled oats are easier and quicker to cook than steel-cut.


1.Chocolate Coffee Oatmeal Recipe


Coffee lovers will love this. We don't even need to explain why chocolate.

Looks weird we agree but don't knock it until you have tried it.

Serves 1

Ingredients:


1 ½ cup water

1 tbs. chia seeds

1/2 tsp instant coffee

3 tbs. milk of choice

1-2 tbs. honey or maple syrup


Directions:

Add the rolled oats and 1 ½ cup water in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil. Add the coffee and cocoa powder and stir the mixture. Reduce the heat. Now add half mashed banana and the milk and stir well. Let it simmer for 2 mins and then add in the honey.

Cook on the stove for 3 minutes or till the oats look cooked. Stir well.

Enjoy with toppings of choice like fruit, dry fruits, chia seeds.







2. Yogurt & Oats Parfait


Serves 2

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt or curd

1/4 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup almonds, chopped

2 tbsp chia seeds

2-3 tbsp honey or maple syrup

a handful of strawberries, blue berries or berries of your choice.


Directions:

In a bowl, mix oats, chopped almonds, chia seeds, maple syrup. Mix fruits together.

Place a few teaspoons of rolled oats at the bottom of the jars. Then add a few spoonfuls of yogurt or curd. Finally top with the fruit salad. Keep layering.

Put the parfaits in the fridge for at least 3 hours or overnight. You can add a bit of milk in it if you want the next morning or make the yogurt in a paste by adding a bit of water to it. Done!







3. Blueberry smoothie oats


It tastes soooo good! It will keep you full for hours.

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup milk – of your choice

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/4 cup rolled oats soaked overnight, they double up the next day.

Ice

No additional sweeteners needed.

Directions : Whiz up everything in a blender, pour in a glass and top it with your favorite seeds or dry fruits and done!
