Our Program
Cervical dystonia, a condition characterized by patterned, repetitive, and spasmodic or sustained muscle contractions resulting in abnormal movements and postures of the head and neck, can have a significant impact on your quality of life. Our Approach

Virtual PT Assessment: We begin with a thorough assessment to understand your specific impairments and goals. This assessment allows us to tailor the program to address your unique needs effectively.
-
Education and Empowerment: We provide comprehensive education about cervical dystonia, its symptoms, and available treatment options. This knowledge empowers you to actively participate in your care and make informed decisions.
-
Self-Management Techniques: Learn practical strategies to cope with symptoms and optimize your daily function. We will guide you in implementing techniques that can be easily incorporated into your routine.
-
Neuroplastic Training Exercises: Engage in specialized exercises aimed at optimizing neuroplasticity. These exercises promote rewiring of the brain and help improve motor control, sensory perception, and body awareness.
-
Sensory Motor Training and Integration: Enhance sensory perception and integration through targeted exercises that can be performed remotely. These interventions improve your ability to accurately perceive and differentiate sensory information related to neck muscle recruitment and head alignment.
-
Task-Specific Training with Repetition: Practice functional activities relevant to your daily life, focusing on repetitive training to promote motor learning. This approach helps develop automaticity and improved motor control during targeted tasks.
-
Postural and Muscular Re-education: Utilize virtual interventions to improve postural control and muscle coordination. Video-based feedback and instruction enhance your body awareness and correct abnormal muscle activation patterns.
-
Home Exercise Program: Receive a customized home exercise program that complements the virtual sessions. Clear instructions and video demonstrations enable you to perform the exercises conveniently at home, ensuring continuity of therapy.
Our experienced neuro-physical therapists work closely with you through virtual sessions, providing real-time guidance, feedback, and support. They will create an individualized care plan tailored to your unique challenges, goals, and preferences.
